We started with one table, one pair of scissors, and an honest belief that every pet deserves to feel comfortable during their groom.
Judi opened her first grooming table in 2009 out of her garage in Laguna Hills — not to build a business, but because a neighbor's Golden Retriever kept coming back. That dog, a seven-year-old named Biscuit, had anxiety around most groomers. Judi took her time. The dog relaxed. The neighbor talked. Word spread.
By 2012, Judi had enough regular clients to move into a small commercial space on Moulton Pkwy. Over the years, the team grew carefully — each new groomer vetted not just for technique, but for how they handled nervous animals, senior pets, and the occasional very opinionated Dachshund.
Today, Judis Pet Grooming is a full-service salon with four certified groomers. We still take our time. We still believe a relaxed pet gives a better groom. And we still occasionally hear about Biscuit — now 21 and apparently still going strong.
We believe the prep work matters as much as the trim. How a pet enters the salon — their energy, their comfort level — shapes everything that follows.
We use calm, deliberate movements and give pets time to settle before we begin. If an animal is visibly distressed, we slow down — never push through.
We call or text if something unexpected comes up — a skin irritation, a mat we weren't expecting, a behavior that tells us the pet might need a break. You won't be surprised at pickup.
We use professional-grade shampoos and conditioners suited to coat type and skin sensitivity. We keep fragrance-free options on hand for pets with sensitivities or allergies.
We don't overbook. Each appointment is scheduled with enough time to do the job well, not just quickly. Your pet won't spend five hours in a kennel waiting for a 30-minute groom.
Different coats need different approaches. We don't apply one-size-fits-all grooming to every dog. Breed standards, coat condition, and owner preference all factor into what we do.
Our tools are sanitized between every appointment. The salon is cleaned daily. We take hygiene seriously — both for animal health and for your peace of mind.
Judi starts grooming neighborhood dogs from home. Word of mouth builds slowly. First regular client: a Golden Retriever named Biscuit.
Judis Pet Grooming opens its first dedicated salon on Moulton Pkwy. Two tables, one dryer, and a very small waiting area with a water bowl.
Maria joins as senior groomer, bringing competition-level scissor work and a calm presence that anxious dogs seem to respond to immediately.
Carla comes aboard with specialized feline grooming experience. Cat appointments now run on separate days to reduce stress for both species.
Full salon remodel: three grooming stations, dedicated bathing area, improved ventilation, and a waiting space that doesn't feel like a vet's office.
Four certified groomers, hundreds of regular clients, and the same core belief that started it all: every pet deserves a groomer who takes their time.
